Spiritual Care
The Hospice Chaplain offers spiritual care and counseling to patients and their loved ones. A wake-up call to one's mortality often raises doubts, questions and concerns and a search for spiritual peace. Spiritual peace includes wholeness, connection with others, belonging and safety.
The chaplain is a caring companion and fellow traveler, listening as fears are acknowledged and anxieties are explored
The chaplain serves as witness, not judge
For those who find religion to be a means to spiritual peace, the chaplain may act as their religious guide
The chaplain will assist in connecting them with clergy who can administer sacred rituals and other religious support they need
In addition to the traditional and religious paths to spiritual peace, some individuals benefit from life review, visualization, dream interpretation and relaxation therapy
The Hospice Chaplain is available to meet in the privacy of the patient’s home or at Hospice House.
Eligibility
Open to any patient or caregiver being served by Hospice Support Care at home, at Hospice House or in a local hospital or nursing home.
