Caregiver Support and Guidance
Caregivers often feel overwhelmed and alone as they provide day to day care to a seriously ill loved one. The Hospice Nurse Coordinator is available, by appointment, to meet with individuals or families who are caring for someone with a life limiting illness. The Hospice Nurse Coordinator offers emotional support, information and practical guidance.
Caregiver concerns and issues frequently include:
- Anticipatory grief
- Nutritional needs and problems
- Pain Control
- Proper techniques to assist a disabled person
- Equipment and supply needs
- Problems communicating with medical professionals
- Anxiety
- Anger
- Conflict
- Depression
- Exhaustion
- Emotional and physical “peaks and valleys” during cancer treatment
- Decisions about the course and outcomes of treatment
- Financial pressures
- Isolation
- Inability to sleep
- Lack of hands-on help
- Overwhelming responsibilities
Eligibility
Open to any patient or caregiver being served by Hospice Support Care and to other members of the community at large who are caring for a loved one with a chronic or life limiting illness.
Cost
There is no charge for services of Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg.
